To all of my LJ friends:
This is just a post to say thank you immensely. If you are reading this, then I DO read your journal every time you update. I don't really post here anymore, but I DO check my flist (multiple times) every day to catch updates.
Just an fyi. :)

Whoops! This post was meant for a comm that I write in. :(
Um! Anyway!
New apartment = great! I'm on twitter at www.twitter.com/autumnjarvis! I'm going home for the weekend! Life is good!

I am addicted to twitter, now, thanks to my coworker (and can be found on there at http://www.twitter.com/anjarvis.) It is almost the weekend, and a horrible virus has spread itself around campus - we're at hundreds of open cases now instead of the seven we were at Wednesday morning.
Ami is home. It is windy outside, and the window is open. The door rattles and bangs a little with each gust of air. At 10:30 on 3/11, I have an interview for a permanent part time position at the helpdesk... wish me luck!

I am contemplating actually keeping up with my journal again. I am around, folks - I do a lot of lurking and obsessive flist checking, but that is how I roll.
I went to New York over the break to see madhatterpan with Dustin and Chase, and I had an absolute blast. I love seeing Becky, even if I think she was half-sick with nerves most of the time! Let us come back!
For this semester I was hired on as part time staff at the helpdesk, which means I'm doing the exact same job I was, just at 35 hours a week and $12 an hour. It seems as if there may be a car and a netbook in my future (if I can resist the urge to splurge on a Kindle 2.) Work is exhausting, and I keep getting blamed for things that are out of my control (a lady today seemed to think I single-handedly destroyed three servers from across campus), but I love the friends (and quickly downloaded torrents) that my job leaves me with.
Home is still devastated by that ice storm, but my mom has power again. Traci was in jail from November until just about a week ago, and after detoxing from the illegal meds and being kept steadily on her schizophrenia meds, she is apparently stable enough to take care of Kaitlyn and Mason. Unfortunately, she ("she" being "Traci") has also been diagnosed with cervical cancer. They are an oddly and tragically ragged sort of bunch.
And I have biology in seven hours, so I'm going to roll over and pretend that it's really not too hot to sleep in the middle of February. Pah! Where is my snow?

(Meme rules: Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.)
This Is The Story Of Two Pioneers
I said come here if there's a fire It's got to be your love Kiss kiss fall in love Rag weed tall better hope that his ladder don't crack
Heart, don't fail me now It ain't no joke, I'd like to buy the world a toke She grabs a magazine I hear the drizzle of the rain
Hey let's cross the sea and get some culture I can see it in your eyes The lions roar, and young men soar Well, she sneaks around the world from Kiev to Carolina
I like the feel of your name on my lips I'm just trying to be a father, raise a daughter and a son Can't stop falling, can't stop falling in love Counted the stars on the fourth of July
You turn on a spindle Well I heard you crying loud I don't know why I act the way I do Got me on a short leash

Dearest Dustin,
I left my laptop in your apartment. It is in a bag with a power adapter and CDs. Please do not let the dog eat it. Also, Ami, I borrowed your laptop to write this while you were parking the car. Please do not kill me.
Autumn
Also, in somewhat related news, I should have my ADD tests back relatively soon.

Woman: [tells me her problem] Me: [thinking: Oh! I know a program that will help her out.] Me: Are you on Windows, ma'am? Woman: Yes. Me: Okay, here, download [this program.] It will only work on Windows, which is why I asked. Woman: [This program] isn't working. Me: You said you're on Windows XP? Woman: Well, I use Windows. I'm on Windows. Well, my PC is a Mac, but I use Windows Office to type stuff.

The city of Bowling Green has officially lost its mind.
I am THRILLED that Obama won, but ahhh people, please take your wild screamy party away from right outside my window. I was all there with you for the first twenty minutes, but there are only so many shrieking cnats of "OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA BITCHES!" at 10:30PM I can take. I am twenty, that is OLD!

At work and not allowed to leave the building. Apparently there was an incident on South Campus and someone was shot outside of PFT, but there's no telling if that's rumor or fact. We ARE locked inside the building until further notice, though, so... I may not be going to algebra or not!

feuillu posted this really cute audio meme, and I figured since I'm hopping on bandwagons, you know.
1) What's your name? 2) How old are you? 3) Where are you from? Are you living there right now? 4) Is it cold where you are? 5) What's the time? 6) What are you wearing? 7) What was the last thing you listened to? 8) What was the last thing you ate? 9) What was the last thing you watched on tv? 10) What's your favorite tv show? Why? 11) Quick! Find a book, or something with text on it! Flip to a random page and read some of it! GO! 12) What was the last movie you saw? How was it? 13) Do YOU think you have an accent? Talk about that.

I came in and took a nap yesterday, and I guess I was so tired that I didn't move my head even though my neck was bent in an unholy uncomfortable position. It's difficult to move it now, ow ow ow ow. I also woke up at one point while my roommate and her friends were looking at photos on facebook, and I heard one of them whisper "what's e-p-i-c fail mean?"
I have two meal plans and four dollars to last me until Monday. I think I shall be going to Fresh Food and stealing a lot of fruit.

Garrats WHERE ARE YOU our table is cold and lonely (but mostly cold), I keep getting up and pacing and waiting for someone to complain at. =( Also, WoD will not be this Sunday because Lark is having a party, so I will be accosting people with stuff over the weekend at other times. I AM however still holding the Murder Mystery on Sunday, since Guild starts at 5 and Lark's party doesn't until 8.
My mom turned 55 today! Wu's birthday was two days ago, and I'm making her samurai pants, it is a very fun (if clumsy) process. I will only be a teenager for sixteen more days. (I will be twenty on the 27th! I do not know how I like this birthday thing, I have a history of notoriously bad birthdays.) I also do not want to not-be a teenager. I am feeling very mortal at this moment, even if that OMG OLD thing is not supposed to happen for years (I AM HALFWAY TO FORTY, thank you David), and I have sworn to be as juvenile as humanly possible while I still have the "but I'm just a cheerleader teenager" excuse.
Edited to add: Also, this lab computer has mouse gestures installed in Firefox. I approve a lot.

hush sound - where we went wrong |
] |
So, in response to the comments on my last post, since I'm too lazy to respond to each individual one: I'm going to start character creation on Sunday (at Guild), then do some one on one stuff to set up the characters and establish things, and then if we have time, we'll try to do some group stuff together. Everyone is invited to join, if they're willing to put up with me being a complete noob DM. WoD is World of Darkness, which is a tabletop that's kind of set up in the "real" world - modern cities and conveniences and things, except it's a world where werewolves and vampires and mystical things exist. I'm going straight Vanilla WoD, no werewolf or vampire or changelings or anything, not while I'm just learning. Okay :D If anyone else has any more questions, I will try to actually answer through comments this time.
And yes, Hush Sound is amazing, Casey and Sarah, I am glad that people agree!
Also, four classes on Tuesday/Thursdays were a spectacularly stupid idea, and I should be shot for just having the notion. I think it is now naptime.

Ahhh, I cannot stop listening to The Hush Sound. I am not even absolutely positive WHERE I got their music from - Wes, maybe, but I don't talk to him often enough to ask him. Guild is going pretty well, and Alicia please remind me to get the Murder Mystery from you for next weekend.
Dave's tonight was fun, and I am thoroughly upset that a number of you did not show. (This is a hint, people. Richard is exempt, as he is very far away.)
Also, running a WoD campaign next weekend at Guild after the MM, loosely based off of Neverwhere. Players so far are Ami, Kyle, Alex, Chase, and Geneva, though anyone else is welcome to join, if they are willing to put up with me murking through learning the WoD system.
And now it is time to read Hume.

So, basically everyone knows that DSL is a fantasy/medieval'ish roleplaying MUD system thing. Keep that in mind? Cool.
You say (to Saies) 'At least in Verminasia we had heinous crimes, shows of force.' You say (to Saies) 'NOTHING here.' Saies says (to You) 'We could always commit an atrocity just to spice things up, love.' You say (to Saies) 'A murder would be nice.' Saies says (to You) 'Of course.' Saies says (to You) 'Or we can go for pure scandal.' Saies says 'Actually, I am about to pull a major heist...' You say (to Saies) 'Yeah, armored wagon?' Saies says (to You) 'Messenger boy.' Saies says (to You) 'Candy from a baby.'
.. I mean, I'm sure a Dr. Horrible exists somewhere on DSL in mind, if not body.

I don't normally do the meme thing, but I was tagged, come on. :D
Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 random things, facts, goals, or habits about yourself. At the end, choose 10 people to be tagged, listing their names & why you chose them. You can't tag a person who has tagged you. I was tagged by: iamnny
1. When I was small, sometimes I would put ice in my socks.
2. I get irrationally attached to things. Like folders, and books, and rocks. I'm too sentimental.
3. I've probably watched Dr. Horrible at least a dozen times. =|
4. Sleeping in hot rooms makes me really nauseated.
5. I still really, really like country music.
6. I don't want to be a pyschologist, but I would love to get my Psy.D.
7. Teaching is probably my dream job, though I will never pursue it.
8. I enjoy and miss my job, a lot.
9. Driving often scares me.
10. I think green is my favorite color.
Gonna tag Becky, Dustin, Ami, Josh, David, and Alicia. I will be upset if at least one of you doesn't do this. :D A SMALL CHILD WILL COME ATTACK YOU IN YOUR SLEEP.
